Eyes peeled...

Our exhibition deadline for the Mill House was this weekend, and we are so pleased with the work we have been sent - just fantastic, particularly as this is our first project as Two Magpies, and nobody would have heard of us before!  We will shortly be announcing the successful applicants and showing off some of their work on here.

Thank you to those who applied, and those who have shown interest in the project, we can't wait to get the first show up and keep finding more and more treasures...

Looking dapper Mr Duck...

Ok, it may be a little strange and I can't speak on behalf of my fellow Magpie.... but for me there are few things better than an animal dressed in human clothes!  I should probably clarify, I mean in art, I'm not suggesting we all start subjecting our own pets to this (although the occasional raincoat on a pup is fine by me).

Art can be serious and art can be silly.  These beauties are all by Berkley Illustration and are available to buy as prints (and some originals) on Etsy.com, which really is the most fantastic resource for discovering unique talent.... at affordable prices.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Handmade birdies

These handmade designs can be found on notonthehighstreet by Samantha Stas.   Among the nostalgia-filled little treasures are these animal egg-cosies, and bird tea-cosies, very cute and all very necessary!  Lovely vintage button-hair grips too...

Birds of note...

Having a bird-themed name, we feel it only appropriate to twitter on about some fellow bird-loving artists.  Artists we have come across lately:

Clare Cutts makes beautiful, serene screenprints of birds - 2 for joy here, just like us ... you can also buy them as cushions and cards, fantastic!

Us Magpies could not go for long without mentioning the wonderful, romantic, divine work by Rob Ryan - see his new website and you must see his shop Ryantown in Columbia Road, London.

Specialising in screen prints and famously paper cuts, he has worked with Liberty, Tatty Devine and Paul Smith ... TAG Fine Arts have a great collection of his paper cuts and screenprints.

We also like Anna Marrow's bird prints, pictures coming soon...
